The 2016-2017 Lunch Free and Reduced Application is available for completion!
The Spring-Ford Nutrition Services Department understands that some families are facing financial difficulties. Parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to submit free/reduced application forms annually as well as any time during the year when their household information or income change.
For those that ended last school year (June 2016) as Free or Reduced status, please remember, although there is a 30 day carryover from last school year, you must re-apply every year. The year runs from July 1, 2016-June 30, 2017. The carryover period from the prior year extends until October 13, 2016.
Please remember when re-applying using a paper application, you must be sure you are using the most current 2016-2017 version of the form. We apologize, but we cannot accept or process forms on last years or older versions of the form!

Each lunch includes a minimum of the following:
Elementary Level: 2 oz protein, 3/4 cup vegetable, 1/2 cup fruit, servings of grain/bread, & 8 oz milk.
Secondary Level: 2 oz protein, 1 cup vegetable, 1 cup fruit, servings of grain/bread, & 8 oz milk.
Offer Vs. Serve: Students are offered all five menu components (protein, vegetable, fruit, grain/bread, milk) daily for lunch. Of the five items offered, each student must select three items.
Due to USDA regulations effective July 1, 2012 all students in grades 1-12 must select a fruit or vegetable in addition to or as one of the three items. USDA has implemented these changes to encourage students to eat more fruits and vegetables. If students do not choose a fruit or vegetable to complete their lunch, they will be charged a la carte pricing.
For example, instead of $2.95 for a complete Elementary lunch, if the student only wanted the entree and a water, then they would be charged the Elementary Entree a la carte price of $2.80, and the Elementary a la carte price of .50 for a small bottled water, for a total of $3.30. The full meal is a better value and is priced as such to encourage it. The price list for a la carte pricing can be found in the "Snack Prices" section.
The Spring-Ford Area School District cafeterias use a computer software point-of-sale (POS) system to track lunches and cafeteria inventory. The student buys their lunch, milk or snack by keying their 6-digit student ID into a key pad. The cafeteria staff verify the student's name and the student's purchase is deducted from the money you have submitted to their account. When the account is almost empty, the student's account is flagged and a "low balance" email is sent to the primary guardian.
